Many companies and their customers want to trade in an ethical manner. There are increasing demands that companies take responsibility for ethical practices across their entire supply chain. Many firms wish to demonstrate to their customers and staff that they take these requirements seriously. They achieve this by using Goodada's Audit services. Our inspectors visit factories across the world to check the factories for employee welfare and child labour practices. Goodada provides its clients with a detailed staff welfare Audit report. This report can demonstrate that the firm has an active policy of ensuring that its suppliers are not exploiting their employees.
One such Audit service is called a Social Audit. This Audit was created in 1989 by SAI (Social Accountability International). The purpose of SA8000 is to promote, develop and maintain socially acceptable workplace practices. While the standard targets all companies from any country, it is of particular importance in Low-Cost Producer countries where laws and cultures are not robust enough to protect employees from exploitation.
The benefits to your organisation include:
- It shows to your customers, employees and suppliers that your business is committed to treating employees ethically and is socially accountable for this commitment.
- It assists your company to reduce product failure costs through improved management and better production of your suppliers within your supply chain.
- It reduces the risks of litigation, negligence and any poor public relations that may occur as a result of improper suppliers being in your supply chain.
- Supports your organisation's ability to tender for major contracts
